If you notice your hair has been damaged from one of the above, stop that process right away. That will allow the hair to take a break from the damage and at the same time, you can perform certain procedure to restore some of the health of the hair.

It doesn’t mean that you have to stop coloring or straighten your hair permanently. It is just a process to give back what your hair has lost, so you don’t damage the hair further to a point where it is not fixable. Considering not every single person in the world can be my client, or not everyone are able to get it done in a hair salon. I am willing to give you the best possible way to achieve the best result from a professional quality Keratin Treatment. Let’s get started.

First of all, you have to make sure the hair is clean enough that there is no hair product residue on it. You can do that by washing your hair with a deep cleansing shampoo two times.

Then you need to dry your hair 100% before you apply the treatment. Leaving any moisture in the hair will dilute the treatment yet the result might not turn out as good as it can be.

The perfect tool to apply Keratin Treatment.

Put on a pair of protective gloves on. Using the application brush like the one above to apply the treatment from the roots, then use the comb side to comb the treatment thoroughly. ( Hair at the roots are the healthiest, meaning they are the most resistant ). If you have long hair, you might have to dip more Treatment half way down. The most important thing is to make sure the hair is saturated with the treatment.

After you apply the Treatment on the whole hair, wrap the hair up with either a plastic cap or food wrap. This is to avoid the treatment from drying up while you are waiting for the treatment to process. Leave the Treatment on for 45 minutes for maximum result.

Remove the wrap and start drying your hair right away. Never rinse off the treatment as it decreases the result dramatically. You will find it takes a long time to dry the hair because of the consistency of the Treatment. Make sure the hair is 100% dry, you can use a paddle brush as you dry the hair along, it will make the drying process easier as the Treatment might make the hair feels a little sticky before it is totally dry.

The final step. Make sure your flat iron heat up to 450℉ before you start ironing the hair. Keratin Treatment needs high heat to activate and to seal the Treatment on the hair properly. If the temperature drops while you are performing the process, wait until the temperature goes up again before you go on. Make sure every section is no thicker than 2 mm. If your section is too thick, the inner layers of the hair will not get the same heat level as the outside layers, hence the job will not be done perfectly.

As you are ironing the hair, fumes will be released as you go along. That’s is normal. Note that it is the ironing that make the hair straight not the treatment itself. Which means the more you iron it, the straighter your hair turned out. So, don’t be afraid to iron it as much as you can for the stubborn part of your hair. If you saturated the hair with the treatment, that is natural heat protector. Very unlikely you can damage your hair with the heat. However, once you see no fumes are coming out when you put the iron on the hair, stop the process. It means that all the treatment has already been evaporated, and heat could damage the hair at this point. The guideline is to flat iron each strands of hair up to 10 times.

After the process is done, leave the hair unwashed for 48 hours or longer if you like. It gives time for the treatment to settle down. If you wash it off too soon, the strength of the treatment might be decreased or the treatment might not last as long.

Keratin Treatment can be done as often as you need. If the result is not intense enough after the first time, you can do another one on top of it right away to intensify the result.
